About MK Distance Project

MK Distance Project is an athletics club specialising in middle-distance and long-distance running. We welcome athletes and runners aged from 10 to adult. We are a friendly, supportive running club and our experienced coaches have the highest coaching qualifications. Training is held in various locations in Milton Keynes.

Athletes train and compete on the track, cross-country and road. Our athletes regularly represent their county for athletics and cross-country, and some have even represented Great Britain in international competitions.

MKDP's club motto is 'the athlete comes first'. We believe the athlete is the most important person, not the coaches and not the club. Every decision we make when it comes to training and racing is in the best interest of the athlete.

MK Distance Project has two main aims:

  1. To provide younger athletes (aged 10 to 16) with the stable foundation they need to progress and have a successful senior career in athletics. Any coach can have success by training young athletes hard with three intense sessions a week. The problem with this is, how will an athlete's training progress through the years if they are already training like a senior athlete when they are 14 years old? The training of all MKDP young athletes is carefully planned and progressed year on year so they can continually improve.
  2. For senior athletes (aged 17 and above) to win individual and team medals at senior championships, and for athletes to achieve international representation, both on the track and cross-country. Sponsorship opportunities may be available to senior athletes, depending on their standard, to go towards physio appointments, sports massage, physiological testing and travel to competitions. Please contact us if you have any queries about this.
