Our club moto is 'the athlete comes first'. We believe the athlete is the most important person, not the coaches and not the club. Every decision made when it comes to training and racing is in the best interest of the athlete.
MK Distance Project has two main aims:
- To provide younger athletes 10 to 16 years the stable foundations that they need to progress and have a successful senior career. Any 'coach' can have success by training young athletes hard with three intense sessions a week. The problem with this is there is no future thinking, how will the athletes training progress through the years if they are already training like a senior athlete when they are 14 years old? As a MKDP young athlete your training is carefully planned and progressed year on year so that you can continually improve.
- For senior athletes 17 years and above to win individual and team medals at the various senior championships and to help guide athletes to international representation both on the track and cross county. There may also be sponsorship opportunities available to senior athletes depending on your standard to go towards physio appointments, sports massage, physiological testing and travel to competitions, please contact us if you have any questions on this.
