Chiltern League 2019/20: the Oxford match

What a start to the 2019-20 XC season! The weather was dry, the skies cloudy, the ground soft, the mood optimistic and the cake delicious in the MK Distance Project tent.

In the U11 race, Morgan Bunn was 14th (in a time of 6.49) in his first season running for the club, and Jed Okia was 35th (7.15).

In the U13 races, Sophie Jacobs was 3rd (10.35),  Nic Hammett was 6th (10.31),  Stan Baker-Smith was 32nd (11.59) and Alex Moore was 40th (12.45).

In the U15 race, Jack Ratcliffe was 40th.

In the U17 race, Harry Legg came 23rd (22.40) – a great result for his first race in the U17 category.

We had lots of athletes in the senior men’s race: Joe Morrow was 2nd (29.27, MS),  George Wheeler 4th (29.49, 3rd in MS),  Matt Daquila 12th (30.16, 9th in MS),  Charlie Wheeler 16th (30.49, 12th in MS).

Mintu Sidhu was 34th (32.15, 8th in the U20 category)  in his first senior men’s race. Marcus Lovell came 44th (33.00, 10th in U20),  Eliot Winter 93rd (36.14, 52nd in MS) and Andy Jacobs 152nd (38.55, 37th in the M40 category). There were 389 runners.

In the senior women’s race, Cecilie Anderson was 7th (22.02, 4th in the FS category) and Anna Kofoed-Gregory was 23rd (24.33, 11th in FS). There were 241 runners.

MKDP is currently 11th out of 14 teams, with 1921 points. The male team is 8th and the female team 14th; many of our female runners didn’t run yesterday.

The full results are at http://www.chilternccl.co.uk/results.htm

Yesterday was a great team effort by everyone – well done to you all.

We need as many runners as possible to run each Chiltern League match and win points for the club. See you on 9 November at Milton Keynes (Teardrop Lakes - incorporating the UKA Cross Challenge and Oxford University v. RAF).
