56% of athletes achieve PBs at Milton Keynes BMC PB Classic, 5 June

Well done to all MKDP athletes who competed in the BMC PB Classic at Stantonbury on Sunday and organised by our club. There were 44 races, 427 finishers, and 56% of runners got PBs.

Morgan Bunn (U13) was 2nd in his 800m race, achieving a new PB of 2:27.78. Morgan said: 'I was looking forward to the race but was a bit nervous because my balance was off as I'd been boating all Friday with the Sea Cadets. Stepping up to the start line and ready to go, I felt nervous, then I felt comfortable throughout the race. I was happy I stayed around 3rd and 2nd place throughout both laps. And I was super pleased with taking 2nd place and with my time.'

Sophie Jacobs (U15) improved her 1500m PB by 3 seconds, with a 2nd place in 4:49.10. Here’s what she had to say: ‘I was very happy with my race because I got a new PB, I’m getting closer to my season’s target time for the 1500m, and I had a strong finish. It was a very hot day so I tried to stay in the shade as much as possible and keep hydrated before the race. Overall, I really enjoyed myself and the experience of helping to run our club event, and it was great to see so many people running.’

Kitty Shepherd-Cross (U20) was 2nd in her race, with a season’s best of 4:50.01.
Last but not least, Harry Ward (U20) achieved a PB of 4:19.65 in his race. He said: ‘Felt really solid during the race. PB with more to give. I will hopefully get in some solid training weeks before the next track race. Also, great organisation from Jim and the rest of the team.’

Great results – well done, all!

Thanks to Mintu Sidhu, Charlie Wheeler and Ollie Lum for acting as pacemaker in so many races.

Thanks also go to Andy, Caroline, Katie and Sophie Belt, Kitty Shepherd-Cross, Jim and Kyle for helping to organise the event.
