A great 5k PB for Alex Shipley at Mallory Park

Congrats to Alex Shipley on a great 5k PB at Mallory Park at Kirkby Mallory. Here's Alex's race report:

'After a 36-second PB in Wigan (17.03) over the Easter weekend, I was eager to have another crack at going sub 17 minutes. It was a beautiful day with little wind and a nice flat tarmac course. Most people in the race were aiming for a little under 17 so I thought I would try to set off with the front pack and hold on as long as I could. Therefore, it came as a huge shock when I dropped a 3.03 first km. And boy, did I pay for it! I felt good until about the 3k mark but by the end, I was in a deep lactic hole and crossed the line in 17 flat.

'I’m looking forward to getting on the track now and targeting some shorter races, but have learned a lesson from today about the importance of even pacing.

'Thanks to Kyle for his support, as ever, and the race organisers for a fun (if painful) day out.’

Alex’s 5k time of 17:00 is a new PB for her. Fantastic job - well done, Alex!
