A bronze medal for Charlie Wheeler in the 3000m at the UK Indoor Champs
What a fabulous day of racing in Birmingham on Sunday at the UK Indoor Champs! Of course, the highlight was watching Charlie and George Wheeler race in the 3000m.
Huge congratulations to Charlie, who was third in a fantastic new PB of 7:51.80.
George was 8th in 8:10.65, in his first race over this distance in a year.
Here’s Charlie’s race report: ‘I wanted to get out hard to be in a decent position, out of trouble, and to be able to cover any moves, but I was surprised to find myself at the front. At that point I knew I wanted to keep the pace somewhat honest, so it wasn’t a total burn up the last 200. When a few [of the other runners] came round with a K to go, it was about going along for the ride with them. I’m relatively happy with the race, as it shows more progress.’
