Alex Shipley competes in the 1500m at the British Champs

Congratulations to Alex Shipley, who raced the 1500m at the British Championships in Manchester (25 June). Here’s her race report:

‘I was really chuffed to qualify for British Champs by 0.01s at Manchester Grand Prix a few weeks ago. My heat set off really slowly (described as U11 pace). After crawling round the first 700, the race started to wind up. I was happy to be with the pack at the bell, but didn’t have the legs to stay competitive as the field strung out. I ended up finishing 9th in the heat, but loved the experience. Thanks, Kyle, for all your support!’

The winner of Alex’s heat, Katie Snowden, has been selected for the GB Olympic team to compete in Tokyo. Good luck, Katie!

Competing at the British Champs is a fantastic achievement – well done, Alex!
