Fantastic 5k PB for Emma at Ardingly

Harry Ward and Emma Mears raced at the South of England showground at Ardingly, Haywards Heath, on 5 April.

Harry had this to say about his race: ‘After a year of lockdowns, to be able to race again was amazing! The course was totally flat, which promised a fast race. However, near gale-force winds made half of it a headwind battle. For me, it was a solid opening race for the spring/summer ahead and I am very excited.’ Harry finished in a time of 17.04.

Meanwhile, Emma, who was 7th in her age category, said: 'This was my first race after my minor knee op back in December, and the weather conditions were really brutal so I really didn’t know what to expect. However, I’d been training really well for a couple of months and had put pressure on myself to sub 18. I ended up managing to grab a 28-second PB which got me to 18:00 dead. Originally, I was so frustrated when I saw the results but quickly realised that sub-18 is in reach! I’m excited for what’s to come...'

Well done to both! Fantastic runs.
