New 5000m PB for Kitty Shepherd-Cross at SEAA U20 champs

Well done to Kitty Shepherd-Cross, who competed in the SEAA U20/Senior Championships 2021 in Bedford last weekend.

She said: 'The South of England 5000m was my first time running the distance on a track, so my aim going in was to beat my road time of 17.52. It was a very hot day, but the 12.5 laps went by faster than expected and I was overjoyed when I crossed the finish line and my dad told me I had run 17.15. Sadly, when my official time came out 30 seconds slower than his timing at 17.45, he had to admit that his timing of my race included counting the last two laps in his head as his phone had run out of charge!

'Despite my initial disappointment, it was great to do my first 5000m track race - a distance I enjoy a lot - and to finish second.'
